About VIS Seed Company

Mr. Jan Vis was born in Enkhuizen, Holland and grew up there learning the seed business. Years later Jan came to Southern California and took a position as international sales manager for Bodger Seeds Ltd.

After building and growing the seed business for Bodger Seeds, Jan took a position as West Coast Sales Manager for Burpee Seeds. Many years later, due to changes in the marketplace, Jan decided to start his own seed distribution company.

In the spring of 1985 Jan, along with his wife Janna, founded VIS Seed Company, Inc. in Arcadia, California. VIS Seed Company soon found there was a strong demand for a service oriented seed company in Southern California and the western U.S.A.

As the business grew their son Ben came to work for them in 1987, and later in 1988 their son Hans began to work for VIS Seed Company. By now VIS Seed Company was well known throughout the region as a source for quality flower seeds.

VIS Seed Company has grown tremendously, yet Ben and Hans have always maintained the four basic principals the company was founded on. These principals remain:

• Sell only quality seeds and plants
• Give quick and efficient service
• Offer fair and competitive prices
• Be honest in all business dealings

VIS Seed Company represents and is a distributor for most of the major flower seed breeders and producers worldwide. Some of these companies include Goldsmith/Syngenta, Pan American, Sakata, American Takii, Kieft, Benary, Hem Genetics, Global, Floranova, Tezier, Farmen and others.

In 2010, VIS Seed Company celebrates its 25th year in business. With its primary business still in California and the western U.S., VIS Seed continues to grow, servicing growers large and small throughout North America and beyond.
